What We Believe
The Bible
We believe the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments books of the Bible, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man. We believe the Bible is the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
One God
We believe in One God who eternally exists in three Persons—the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. These three are one God, having the same nature, attributes, and perfections, and worthy of the same worship, reverence, and obedience. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19).
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ, the Son of God, took upon Himself the form of a man; He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born by the virgin Mary. We believe He lived a sinless life, performed mighty miracles, taught, and showed us how to live in a way that is pleasing to God. He died on the cross for the sins of mankind, He was buried and was raised to life on the third day, He was seen by many witnesses, ascended to heaven, and is now seated at right hand of God the Father. We believe He is coming back again soon to judge the living and the dead in righteousness and will reward everyone for what they have done. Whoever believes in Him will be saved. (Luke 1:26-35; 1 Corinthians 15: 3-6; Acts 1:6-11; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:1; 2 Timothy 4:1; Revelation 22:12).
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit, the promise of the Father, is at work in the Church today – indwelling, guiding, teaching, and empowering believers with varieties of gifts, service, and activities for building up the Church. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. (John 14:15-26; John 16:7-15; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11).
Man: Our Sin and God’s Gift of Salvation
We believe that man was created good and upright; for God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” However, man by voluntary transgression fell and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. All people are born with a sinful nature. We all have sinned. We all have fallen short of the glory of God. We all are separated from God. We all are under the condemnation of eternal death and separation from God. (Genesis 1:26-27; 2:15-17; 3:6; Romans 3:9-10, 23; 5:12-19; 6:23; Ephesians 2:11-22).
We believe in the good news that God loves all the people of the world and doesn’t want anyone to perish. Therefore, He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for the sins of the world and reconcile mankind back to God. Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ freely receives forgiveness of sins and the eternal life of God. But condemnation and the wrath of God, due to sin, remains on anyone who rejects and does not obey Jesus Christ. Today, God is calling all people everywhere to repent and believe in Jesus Christ, the savior of the world (John 3:16-18, 36).
Sanctification
We believe sanctification (separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God) is the will of God for all believers and should be earnestly pursued by walking in obedience to God’s Word. Therefore, by the power of the Holy Spirit we will strive to obey the command, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8; 5:23, 24; Hebrews 12:14; 1 Pet. 1:14-16).
The Church
We believe the Church consists of all those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the gospel to all nations The local church is a body of believers in Christ who meet regularly together for the worship of God; for mutual encouragement and spiritual growth through the Word of God, prayer, sharing meals and fellowship; and to be a witness for Jesus Christ in the world. ((Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 1:8; 2:41–47; Ephesians 1:22–23).
Ordinances
We believe that the ordinances of the church, as commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ, are Water Baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper, both of which are administered to those who are born again (Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 22:14-20).
